Reporting on Communities.

I was a communities and policy reporter for nearly a decade. One story, A push to make cops carry liability insurance in Minneapolis was highlighted as among the best solutions journalism of 2016. I’m proud it’s part of a first-ever database-led story package that allows Chicagoans to track half-a-billion tax dollars in police misconduct settlements. Other community reporting early on won best in education, and I share a Peabody with an NBC Dateline team.

TV/Audio Production.

I learned to write for video and audio while producing the weekly public access television show of eminent WNYC Radio journalist, Brian Lehrer.

Listen to my Colorlines audio interview with fellow immigrant and current Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (D-WA).
